Yasmeen Smalley, Rochester Institute of Technology

I have been on Rochester Institute of Technology’s Dean’s List since I began matriculation, and have a 3.65 GPA. I entered college with 49 credits, which were the result of taking 10 advanced placement exams in high school. Starting my college education with so many credits allowed me to enroll in RIT’s dual degree program. I am currently pursuing a BFA in Photojournalism and a BS in Biomedical Photographic Communications.

I have received numerous awards for my work, including 2nd place for Columbia Scholastic Press Association in the Sports Category in 2007, Honorable Mention for CSPA’s Feature Category in 2008, and have been selected to display work in RIT’s Honor Show for 2010 and 2011.

I have also received an Honorable Mention in RIT’s What We Do Show.

In the summer of 2010 I interned at the Houston Chronicle as a student photographer. During my time there I had over 20 pictures published in the daily paper, 6 of which were front page images, inclusive of a front page photo in the Sunday paper.
