Reaffirming Faith [James Moore, 46, and Kelly Crane, 49, have been together since 2009 and are extremely in love. James has been a Baptist all of his life and has trouble being accepted into the religion because of his sexual orientation. Last year, James found a local church in Fairport, N.Y. that has been accepting to the gay community so James has been attending mass with them every week. James had already been baptized when he was younger but wants to have it redone to be accepted into the faith for his true identity. After the pastor agreed to giving to the baptism, the pastor asked Kelly if he would like to do it at the same time and Kelly obliged.] James Moore, left, and Kelly Crane sit and relax after a long day of work at their home in Greece, N.Y. on Dec. 1, 2015. “After work” Kelly says, “we like to have cocktails, relax and watch Fox News.” Kelly writes Christmas cards to their friends, family and work clients. Kelly wears the ring that James bought for him. He says that it’s “basically an engagement ring.” The two plan on getting married once Kelly starts the process of getting divorced from his wife that he hasn’t spoken to in about five years. “We just never went through the process of the divorce” Kelly says, “and it’s really coming back to haunt me now.” James enjoys the sunrise with his dog, Nolah before having breakfast and getting dressed for work. James and his brother John prepare steaks for the early family Christmas party that James and Kelly are hosting. “John and I never really were close growing up.” James says, “Last year was the first time in years that we had seen each other so this Christmas party is slowly helping us get closer.” James and Kelly makes sure to keep James’ family happy during their early Christmas party. Kelly fixes James’ collar on their back porch before heading to church to receive their baptism. A mass is held just after James and Kelly’s baptism at the First Baptist Church in Fairport, N.Y. James and Kelly plan to get married here but because of financial reasons, the church may have to sell which will force James and Kelly to find an alternative place to get married. Kelly and James react just after being baptized and finally being accepted into the baptist religion. “Originally, James was the only one getting baptized” Kelly says, “but our Pastor asked me if I wanted to be baptized as well. So after breaking down and crying, I graciously said, absolutely. But still, this is James’ day.” James grabs Kelly’s hand in celebration just after arriving back at their home from their baptism. “We did it!” James says, “We finally did it. It just happened so fast.” Kelly and James share an intimate moment just before going to sleep. “I’m so happy that I was able to experience that with you hunny.” Kelly says, “Today was an amazing day.”
