2023 Hutchinson/Wheeler Award for the Advanced Storytelling Workshop

Benjamin Braun is a Photojournalist and documentary filmmaker based in Pittsburgh, PA. Braun searches for and produces character-driven stories for longer-term work. He covers social issues, events, sports, breaking news, and portraiture for daily assignments. He strongly focuses on video storytelling but brings in-depth storytelling to all his work. Braun is attracted to making intimate verde-style films. He is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology Photojournalism program and is a licensed drone operator.

Ben says, “Receiving this award is a true honor. The generous contribution made by Sonny Hutchinson and Chris Wheeler will allow me to attend this legacy workshop and expand my knowledge and experience. I look forward to the week in Denver and applying what I learn to my craft for many years.
