Person Statement of Goals and Financial Need:

I am an aggressive and competitive MMJ/reporter in my first market, looking to take the next step in my career. It has been my dream to work in Denver (specifically at KUSA) since I was 11-years-old. I religiously watch packages from Katie Eastman and Noel Brennan, two of their reporters — and frankly work every day to produce content that KUSA would be happy to run on their air. I’m ready to take the next step in my career, but working in a small market means I don’t regularly get feedback on my work. That leaves me emailing my videos to mentors, and reaching out the other reporters on message boards. One of them, Brian Weister, a video producer at the Denver Police Department who has shelves of Emmy and Murrow awards, recommended this conference as a way to prepare me for that next step.

If I could simply pay for the NPPF TV News Video Workshop, I would. Brian emails me once a week to see if I’ve signed up yet. He promises the workshop will change my life. Unfortunately, as a journalist in a small market, I don’t have the means to attend on my own. I am ready to take the next step in my career, I am certain this is the way to do it, but I need a little help paying for it.

I say without hesitation that you will not find someone more committed to being a reporter than I. I get it, you don’t want to pay for someone to go through an expensive video training for them to decide they no longer want to be in the business. I assure you that isn’t me. I love my job, this career is what I was made to do, and I want to do it as long as I can, and do it really well. Thank you for your consideration.
