About This TV Award
Gordon Yoder, an NPPF Fellow and NPPA Life Member, established this award to support video photojournalists wishing to attend the NPPA TV News Video Workshop.
About Gordon Yoder
Gordon Yoder’s early career included filming theatrical newsreels. After serving in Korea as a war correspondent-photographer, he went on to cover major news stories for network television, including the civil rights struggles of the 1950s and 1960s.
In addition to his work as a journalist, Yoder manufactured and marketed motion picture camera equipment for the television industry. For many years, the 16mm Yoder Sound Camera was standard equipment at television stations and networks across the country.
Eligibility
The award is open to working professional video photojournalists who wish to attend the NPPA TV News Video Workshop.
Applicants must have at least six (6) months of full-time employment as a video photojournalist. This award is intended for beginning video photojournalists and is not designed for those with many years of professional experience.
This award is not available to students.
What Recipients Receive
The recipient will receive complimentary registration for the NPPA TV News Video Workshop, along with one thousand dollars ($1,000) to be used toward workshop-related expenses.

How to Enter
Candidates should ensure their application includes all of the required information outlined below.
Applicant Information

Professional Background
A concise bio is required, highlighting the applicant’s job description, work experience, and current organization or professional affiliation.
Written Statements
Applicants must briefly explain their commitment as a video journalist.
Applicants must describe how participation in the workshop will help take their work to the next level.
Applicants must explain how their financial situation prevents them from attending the workshop without financial assistance.
Work Samples
Applicants must upload three (3) video examples of their work to a Project on Picter. Videos must be uploaded directly; links to online clips will not be accepted.
