Forever in the Family A quiet moment is shared in the car on the way back from the farmers market. Betty Sue’s grandparents were the first to farm on the land where the Yows now live and farm themselves. Many days John feels too weak to leave the house. With the company of Penny, the family dog, he often stays inside watching television or sleeping. Betty Sue takes a moment to reflect outside her house. Since John has struggled with various health problems in the past few months, Betty Sue is often out running errands for him and checking on the farm. Some days she doesn’t feel well herself, and must take things slowly. The Yows are regular vendors at the Fearrington Village Farmers Market in Pittsboro on Tuesdays and the Hillsborough Farmers Market on Saturdays. John has had to miss some markets in recent weeks, but felt well enough to help Betty Sue for Saturday’s market.
