Tim Hussin

I’m a director, cinematographer, editor and photographer available for commissions and collaborations. I’m drawn to telling authentic stories about quirky, lovable, and complicated people. A major portion of my recent work has been about exploring the effects that natural disasters have on people and communities.

I was a 2020 SFFILM FilmHouse Resident, working with Erin Brethauer on a feature documentary called Stray Embers, which follows a group of residents in Paradise, California following the 2018 Camp Fire.

I worked as a photojournalist for National Geographic Magazine and the San Francisco Chronicle and have done freelance work with the New Yorker, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Huck Magazine, and Airbnb. I’ve won awards in POYi and was a finalist for a National Magazine Award. My films have toured festivals worldwide.
