Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I apply for more than one grant/fellowship?

You are welcome to apply with the same or different projects to all NPPF grants/fellowships, however, you can only receive 1 (one) NPPF grant/fellowship per funding cycle.

When submitting a proposal, you will be given the option to automatically have it entered into any remaining grants for the funding cycle if you are not selected as the recipient. You will be notified via email and given at least one week to make any changes to your entry before judging the next grant.

I have already started working on my project. Is that acceptable?

Yes, projects can be new or ongoing work. The money is intended to support creating a body of work. The grants are not intended to be used to fund projects that are already completed nor to fund exhibitions and publications.

I have already received over $5000 (five thousand) in funding from grants or fellowships for this project. Can I still enter the proposal?

No, projects that have already received substantial funding are not eligible unless it is a different story. If you have questions regarding a project’s eligibility, please get in touch with the grants NPPF coordinator at grants@nppf.org.

Can I include a video in my project?

Both still and video projects may be submitted for consideration.

What is expected of the recipient?

Recipients shall agree to reasonable requests by NPPF to present their work and/or represent NPPF at photography workshops, seminars, and/or conventions, provided that any necessary expense associated with such presentations is paid by NPPF or mutually agreed-upon sponsor.

Please see the individual grant/fellowship expectations for full details of materials expected upon completion.

Are overseas applications permitted?

Are students eligible to apply?

Who retains the copyright for the images/video footage?
