I am a Multi-Media Journalist at KREM 2 News. I have worked as an MMJ on the morning show for four years. I do daily live shots for the morning show, then spend the rest of the morning turning content. I am responsible for turning PKGs and content to front live. KREM is my first full-time job out of college, but I worked part-time as a Photojournalist at KPNX in Phoenix while finishing my Masters.
Number of Years Experience: 5 Organization: KREM 2 News Personal Statement:I started learning photography as a teenager, and that developed into a love for visual storytelling. My passion is telling stories through captivating visuals that evoke emotion in the audience. I’ve had some incredible opportunities to help me grow in that goal, like attending the NPPA conference in Norman as an observer while in college. I fell in love with the way stories come together, combining the strongest natural sound, visuals, and emotions from characters to engage the viewer. I also had the opportunity to learn from Boyd Huppert in a 10 week training. He taught me how to take that level of storytelling beyond feature stories. I work to make every story I turn as strong as it can be, but I know I have a lot to learn still. Without this scholarship I would not be able to attend the conference. As a single MMJ, I do not have the means to pay for travel and accommodations for the week, on top of the conference fee. If I am able to go, I would also be able to share what I learn with other photographers and MMJ’s at my station. Thank you for your consideration!
