2023 NPPF Advanced Storytelling Workshop Award

 

The National Press Photographers Foundation winner of The Advanced Storytelling Workshop Award is LaMonte Brown from WAPT TV, an ABC affiliate in Jackson, Mississippi. This award is $1,000 plus the waiver of the registration fee to attend the NPPA Advanced Storytelling Workshop at The Auraria Higher Education Center in Denver, Colorado. The winners of this award are professional video photojournalists who are NPPA members.

LaMonte Brown is a graduate of Jackson State University with a major in mass communications. The four-time Emmy winner is the chief photographer at WAPT TV, the ABC affiliate in Jackson, Mississippi.  LaMonte has a passion for storytelling and thinks of his job as a calling, not just a job.  He has won numerous associated press awards and studied at the Poynter Institute.

 

The applicant must be a current NPPA member in good standing and have at least two years of full-time employment as a video photojournalist. Note that this award is NOT intended for beginning video photojournalists but for experienced video photojournalists who have mastered the basics of good video storytelling.
