I am the morning photographer at WPTZ out of Colchester, Vermont. I am paired with the same reporter everyday. We shoot, edit, and write all of our pieces the day before and then do live shots for those pieces in the morning show the next day.

The reason why I wanted to pursue journalism is because I have always had a passion for history and I think that being in the journalism industry, you have a unique perspective because you are literally a witness to history as it happens. Shooting and editing video is something that I have always done as a hobby. I always felt the importance in capturing a moment as it truly is the only way to bring someone into that moment. Journalism is integral to democracy, and the art of video journalism, when done correctly, is key to the point of journalism which is to better inform the public. Seeing as I just graduated from college this past May, I would love to attend this workshop in order to better my skills for myself, my station, and the public. However, with student loans setting in and a fairly low starting wage, attending this workshop would put me in a financial burden without some aid.
