I have been a general assignment reporter for the ABC affiliate in Wichita since September of 2010.
For the past eight years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to report and work with a photographer at KAKE News. However, for the past eight years, I have also been cursed without an opportunity to grow as a video journalist.
My passion for this career started when I emigrated from Guatemala at the age of eight. I credit local TV journalists for being my out-of-classroom teachers that taught me the language and culture of the country that I have called home since 1993. It is those teachers that inspired me to pursue a masters in journalism from the University of Hong Kong and a career in the world of storytelling. And it is my mentor, Larry Hatteberg, that recommended this workshop to help me grow in this field.
My goal is to grow into a multimedia journalist that can report, shoot, and edit stories that are inspired by and presented with passion. It is my hope that this workshop will help me become the video journalists I have hoped to become for the last eight years.
